In this video lesson we will be looking at the end of the Revolutionary War. The American Revolution was a political upheaval, 1765–1783, as the Thirteen American Colonies broke from the British Empire and formed the independent nation, the United States of America.

This lesson is part of a series of lessons on the Constitution, this lesson will focus on Article 1 and what it says and how it creates the senate and the house of representatives. Article 1 is the first part of the Constitution and some might say the most important. Article 1 outlines the organization, powers and responsibilities of the legislative branch.

The Articles of Confederation, formally the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, was an agreement among the 13 founding states that established the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states and served as its first constitution.

This lesson will discuss the Constitution specifically article 5 which explains how the United States Constitution can be changed. The only ways to change the constitution is by adding an amendment.
